Atlanta, Georgia – Hendon Properties in a joint venture with Axiom Realty and Peaceable Street Capital announced the acquisition of The Shoppes at Parma, a 734,199 square foot, shopping center in Parma, Ohio a submarket of the Cleveland MSA.
The center is anchored by key tenants including Walmart Supercenter (179,982 sf), Burlington (45,079 sf), Dick’s Sporting Goods (50,000 sf), and Marc’s (48,688 sf). The transaction includes six outparcels with a variety of QSR and service-oriented concepts including, Crumbl Cookies, T-Mobile, Five Guys Burgers & Fries, and Panera Bread Company. Serving the community since 1956, The Shoppes at Parma (formerly Parmatown Mall) now garners 7.7m annual visits, ranking it in the top 1-2% nationally by foot traffic.
“Our acquisition of The Shoppes at Parma represents exactly the type of investment we seek-high quality retail centers anchored by best-in-class brands that serve essential community destinations,” says Lance Hagaman, Director of Acquisitions for Hendon Properties. “Centers like The Shoppes at Parma with dual grocery anchors (Marc’s and Walmart Supercenter) are rare and exceptionally well-positioned because they generate consistent customer traffic, support a healthy mix of complementary retailers, and demonstrate resilience across market cycles. We believe this asset offers a compelling combination of stability, growth potential, and long-term value”
“In addition to its outstanding anchor lineup, the property’s collection of outparcels further strengthens the asset by diversifying income streams and enhancing the overall customer experience”, says Charlie Hendon, Chief Executive Officer & President of Hendon Properties. “We’re excited to build upon the center’s historic foundation through proactive management, thoughtful leasing, and strategic capital improvements where appropriate.”
The Shoppes at Parma is the fifth asset acquired by The Hendon Properties Opportunity Fund with now over 1.3m sf in the portfolio. In February 2024, Hendon launched the Fund and successfully closed the year with three acquisitions: Plaza at Riverchase (197,840 sf) in Hoover, Alabama (Birmingham MSA) followed by East West Shops (85,565 sf) in Austell, Georgia and East Cobb Station (205,810 sf) in Marietta, Georgia (Atlanta MSA). In 2025, the Fund acquired Sandy Plains Village (174,175 sf) in Roswell, Georgia (Atlanta MSA).
