Hendon Acquires Sandy Plains Village | Atlanta MSA

Atlanta, Georgia (July 21, 2025)

We are elated to announce the acquisition of Sandy Plains Village, a highly frequented retail center spanning 174,175 square feet in the historic community of Roswell, Georgia!  Sandy Plains Village is anchored by key tenants including Painted Tree Boutiques (60,000 sf), Movie Tavern (11-screens), and Dollar Tree.  The transaction includes three outparcel restaurant concepts, Dunkin Donuts, Lucia’s Italian, and The Flippin’ Chicken, as well as Sandy Plains Village II, a neighboring 18,625 sf mixed-use strip complex.

Sandy Plains Village is the fourth asset acquired by The Hendon Properties Opportunity Fund with now over 663,000 sf in the portfolio. In February 2024, Hendon launched the Fund and successfully closed the year with three acquisitions: Plaza at Riverchase (197,840 sf) in Hoover, Alabama (Birmingham MSA) followed by East West Shops (85,565 sf) in Austell, Georgia and East Cobb Station (205,810 sf) in Marietta, Georgia (Atlanta MSA).

Hendon Acquires East West Shops | Atlanta MSA

Hendon Acquires Brookhaven Station | Atlanta MSA

Atlanta, Georgia (April 27, 2021) – Hendon Properties today announced the acquisition of Brookhaven Station, a 44,821 square foot, shopping center in the Brookhaven-Chamblee trade area, a submarket of the Atlanta MSA.

“It’s an exciting time to do business in the city of Brookhaven”, says Jason Lazarus, Director of Acquisitions for Hendon Properties.  “Brookhaven Station is surrounded by explosive economic growth with numerous mixed-use, medical, and multifamily projects coming online in recent years and still more in the works.”

“We are confident the center will continue to perform well into the future given its location and strong demographics that support the area”, says Charlie Hendon, President and Chief Executive Officer for Hendon Properties.  The center is also located 5 minutes away from Hendon’s corporate office.

Brookhaven Station is located 2 miles north of the affluent Buckhead submarket across from the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe MARTA Train Station.  The center is home to a mix of national and regional tenants including The UPS Store, Wing Stop and Mellow Mushroom Pizza.  Recently signed Fox Bros. BBQ is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2022.  Brookhaven Station is currently 96.8% leased.

This is the second project Hendon Properties has acquired along the iconic Peachtree corridor.  In July 2017, Hendon Properties purchased half an acre of land located at 5485 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Chamblee, Georgia and has since redeveloped the former Checkers Drive-In quick-serve restaurant building into 3 commercial retail suites totaling 4,225 square feet.  The center is currently 100% leased.

Originally constructed in 2017, the single tenant building consists of 4,507 sf on 0.67 acres.  This parcel is part of the 2016 Dawson Marketplace development curated and built by Hendon Properties, which includes 500,000+ sf in big box retail, quick serve restaurants, and community services.

The property benefits from excellent traffic counts along Georgia Highway 400 with 31,005 vehicles per day.  Surrounding traffic generators include the North Georgia Premium Outlets, which welcomes 7 MM visitors per year.  Average income of $94,000 in trade area with an explosive submarket growth of 8.3% projected population growth.

Hendon Properties Acquires Coosa Town Center for $9.7 Million

Hendon Properties Completes Acquisition of Dominant Shopping Center in Gadsden, Alabama

Atlanta, Georgia (November 26, 2019) – Hendon Properties today announced the acquisition of Coosa Town Center, a 105,979 square foot, shopping center in the Gadsden trade area, an extension of the Birmingham MSA.

“This asset is exceptionally unique as there are no duplicate anchor tenant locations for more than 27 miles”, says Don Buggeln, Director of Acquisitions for Hendon Properties. “Post closing, our plan is to foster stability and sustain in-place occupancy through focused operational management.”

The center is currently 96% leased as of November 1, 2019 with first generation tenants accounting for 70% of occupied GLA.

Coosa Town Center is conveniently located steps away from the recreational Coosa River and is adjacent to historic Downtown Gadsden and its lively entertainment district.

The shopping center is anchored by top national retailers TJMaxx, Petco, Old Navy, and Burke’s Outlet. Shop tenants include Firehouse Subs, Sally Beauty Supply, GameStop and Sport Clips.

This is the first property Hendon Properties has acquired from CIM Real Estate Finance Trust of Phoenix, AZ.

Hendon Properties Closes on Sale of Westport Village for $30.3 Million

Atlanta, Georgia (July 18, 2019) – Hendon Properties, in partnership with Harbert United States Real Estate Fund VI, L.P. (“HUSREF VI”) announces its closing on the sale of Westport Village, a 169,515 square foot lifestyle shopping center in the Louisville trade area.  The center was purchased by Wicker Park Capital Management, LLC, a privately held real estate investment firm out of Savannah, GA.

“I am proud of what we’ve accomplished and the relationships we’ve built at Westport Village”, says Charlie Hendon, President of Hendon Properties.  Over the last 3 years, Hendon executed 13 new leases (56,000 square feet), which included a 24,000 square feet box and renewed 32 leases (102,000 square feet), which included the expansion of 3 tenants.  Through Hendon’s use of creative social media marketing and live cultural events, the center has become the town square of the local community.

Westport Village is a destination retail center located near the intersection of Westport Road and Herr Lane, one-half mile east of Interstate 264.

Hendon Properties purchased Westport Village in May 2016.  The project is the second joint venture between Hendon Properties and the Harbert Management Corporation.

Hendon Properties Acquires The Forum at Grandview for $31.75 Million

Atlanta, Georgia (July 16, 2019) – Hendon Properties today announced the acquisition of The Forum at Grandview, a 216,144 square foot, shopping center in the Madison trade area, a submarket of the Jackson MSA.

“We are excited to start doing business in the City of Madison; our company’s first venture in Mississippi,” says Charlie Hendon, President of Hendon Properties.  “Post closing, our plan is to foster stability and sustain in-place occupancy through focused operational management.”

The deal also includes eight (8) acres of undeveloped frontage along Grandview Boulevard, which Hendon sees as a creative opportunity and potential upside.  The center is currently 100% leased as of July 1, 2019.

The Forum at Grandview is highly visible to Interstate 55 (Exit 108) and is anchored by top national retailers Best Buy, Home Goods, Michaels, Petco, ULTA, and Dick’s Sporting Goods.  The center is also adjacent to Malco Grandview Theater and Miskelly Furniture.

This is the second acquisition between Hendon Properties and CBL Properties.  In 2013, Hendon Properties purchased 3 regional shopping centers and 3 related associated centers in a portfolio transaction.  Included in the portfolio were Georgia Square Mall and Georgia Square Theater in Athens, GA; Panama City Mall and The Shoppes at Panama City Mall in Panama City, FL; and RiverGate Mall and Village at RiverGate in Nashville, TN.
